Rolfing Structural Integration (Rolfing SI) is a form of hands-on bodywork that strives to align the body with gravity. It is first and foremost an education for the body, relying on the inherent capability of every body to seek balance and ease.

Structural alignment is a keystone of the Rolfing process. By balancing the tensional forces exerted by various soft-tissue elements throughout the body, gravity becomes a source of lift, rather than oppression. Fluidity of movement and a sense of ease naturally arise. Clients notice easier posture, less pain, and quicker recovery from injury.

The Rolfing process is classically administered as a 10-session series. Each session addresses a segment or segment(s) of the body, builds on the work of the session before, and prepares the body for the session after. The effects are cumulative and often profound.

The creator and originator of Rolfing SI, Dr. Ida P. Rolf, was a visionary biochemist and yoga instructor who saw an unfettered and organized fascial system as essential for maximizing the potential of the human body and experience. She developed Rolfing SI over decades of work and research before her death in 1979.
